Well, I'd received an email a while ago in which someone informed me there was a notice up on the White Dirty Angel site about the game in fact being discontinued. I went ahead and asked a translator to have a look at it and he had informed me that here on this page it says explicitly that the person really has decided to stop making the game. Apparently this message has been up there since October 2008. Also according to this message, the images that are up in the CG gallery are ones she decided to add after stopping the production of the game, and the text file on there is the final scenario she had planned. I'm sorry, guys, I really had thought she planned to continue it to completion, and that the images in the gallery were indications of progress. On a brighter note, please rest assured that I on the other hand am still committed to completing the translation of Bound Prince, including the end of Day After and L is Lovely after that.

Went ahead and added another update. We're getting quite close to the end of the game, and, after two years of working on this project, I'm feeling a bit sentimental to see it draw to a close. Following Day After there's a brief little bit called L is Lovely where L makes Light wear various ridiculous outfits, but there's no plot or anything. So it's Day After and then L is Lovely, and then that's it, folks. Maybe we'll translate the bit of text they have up on the White Dirty Angel site, why not.

At long last, I got my computer fixed; practically built a new one. I'm sorry there wasn't an update the week I thought I'll be able to add one, but I really got caught up with clinical exams. I'll try to get the update done for you as soon as I can. Thank you all for your patience.

This entire year has seriously sucked and still continues to suck, it has more or less been like this one long, continuous period of suck with little to no non-suck in-between, I still have a few more clinical exams before "this year" transitions into "next year" and I think I've gotten to the point where I've begun to regularly snap bitchily at everyone I know. I'm really sorry, and also I'm sorry for whining about my personal life here instead of giving you an update. Seriously though, you'll get your update.

Incidentally, a reader has pointed out to me that perhaps the reason that Light's member is green in this image from White Dirty Angel is that it's covered with something bitter, and maybe that's why L is cringing. You know, because L likes sweet things. Well, I suppose we already know L thinks Light's jizz is bitter, regardless. I'd think Light would probably get some kind of irritation by coating his dick with bitter stuff, you know, I'm really musing philosophically at great extents about this.

Anyway, to address some other questions I've gotten about White Dirty Angel -

I've gotten a few emails where people said they heard something about Orange Pekoe not intending to release the game or something to that effect. I don't know if they heard this recently or what the basis was, but that sort of thing would mean that, partway through making the game, OP supposedly decided to stop and scrap what they already had put together.

Beginning around a year ago, this promotional site went up for White Dirty Angel, and since it first went up, over time more and more things were added. Granted, it's been slow, but so am I, and, as you can see, the promotional site is still up. The most recent update to the WDA site took place a few months ago, I believe. Also there are those images I included farther down this page showing what looks like part of the game running on her pc.

I, personally, have not heard anything about OP deciding against the game. By the looks of things, it doesn't seem to me like OP had decided to scrap the game. But I don't know anything for a fact (this includes several years of medical study). Either way, I can't stand L uke anyway so I'm not exactly thrilled by the prospect of this game in the first place, but I know if it comes out I'll probably get it and then whine about how L is big man seme and this is a disgrace to sadistic introverts everywhere, and then after I finish whining and bitching, I'd probably set out to have it translated.

You guys aren't aware of this, but right now, Amo is making the most incredible, amazing AMV ever. I'm going to hell for getting into this here because it isn't Death Note, it's Gravitation, and this log is supposed to be about Death Note-related stuff, but I've already tainted it by going into all that Hetalia talk anyway.

This AMV she's making now is just so gorgeous though that it's right up there with her best Death Note AMVs in terms of pure, amazing love. It made me fall in love with Gravitation all over again and got me all teary-eyed and pathetic-looking.

It's to Pressure by Queen and Bowie, and when it's finished I'm gonna force you guys to watch it because this isn't the sort of vid that should go unwatched.

Wow, I really do sound like the Amo spokesperson of late, don't I. Maybe that should become my official position.

Incidentally, in response to a few questions I've gotten by email, I don't think Day After is necessarily a continuation of the first five days. It seems like a different storyline. In both storylines, however, L whines about how Light's jizz is bitter.

Buddy, people would line up twice around the block to go down on Light. Course, people would also line up twice around the block to get head from L. Neither one of them should be whining. Still, I sort of love how L just has to inform Light that it's bitter, like it's somehow Light's fault.

In other matters, I've also gotten some questions about Wedding Dress in and on Light. Just to clarify any confusion, the site is a collection of DN fanfics in Japanese. It isn't a doujin or an image site (the images included here are pretty much the only ones on that page). Also, I'd love to link you, but I no longer have the link. I originally got to it from this site, which, as you can see, quite regrettably is down. This was actually one of the galleries I linked to from the Other Death Note Stuff page, and it was one of my favorite galleries because the art was so beautiful and perverse. Sucks that it's down.

Wedding Dress in and on Light may still be up, but I don't know how to get to it now that that other site is down. Either way, it's not like any of us non-Japanese speakers can understand any of the fanfics on there anyway.

(Can you look at this image and just imagine him going 'I'm the God of this world!') - er, anyway, I find the name 'Wedding Dress in and on Light' hilarious, it conjures up images of L trying to stuff a wedding dress into Light with a shoe horn (thanks, Amo, for the mental image), but I think what it refers to is that there's that thing around his dick (not quite a cockring) and a vibrator in him.

** Note: Amo and I have talked it over, and I think I'd like to commission someone to draw Wedding Dress in Light, shoe horn and all. When I have time I should start searching for someone willing to do that...

In other matters, despite myself I've recently developed a sort of affection for the Hetalia fandom. For those who aren't familiar with this, Hetalia is this Japanese web comic that was later made into an anime, and basically it depicts the various nations involved in World War II as cute guys.

At first I found the whole concept disturbing, there's nothing cute about a world war, and, being Jewish, I'm particularly disturbed by the notion of cutsifying World War II Germany into a pretty boy. On the other hand, the idea for the show really is creative and, from a cultural standpoint, sometimes it really is freaking adorable. I think what really did it for me is Canada. I still go back and forth between being disturbed and amused.

So, while on one hand, I think we generally like when things are represented by cute guys, I think the whole Hetalia fandom also tends to bring out the worst in fangirls.

I’ve seen fangirls talk about Hetalia supposedly painting some kind of picture of the entire world getting along beautifully and peace and love and blah blah blah. This seems to me as even greater blindness than the sort of blindness that makes fangirls think that L is little more than a sugar-eating, naive little boy.

(You don’t become the world’s greatest detective being a naive little boy. And planting cameras in someone’s house and watching their entire family 24/7 isn’t cutsey).

Hetalia is about World War II. A war. Of the world. That’s the exact opposite of the whole world getting along. And what’s worse is, anyone with a semester of high school history could tell you that World War II Germany was not exactly about getting along with everyone. I’ve seen the same fangirls who go on dreamily about Hetalia being about world peace and love across the universe draw up cutsey fanart of cutsey Germany depicting swastikas (these fangirls don't get banned from DeviantArt, though); if you say you think world peace isn’t realistic, they get pretty pissed off, though.

If you'd like to watch this show, some nice person put all the eps (with subs) up on youtube here. There's a bit of yaoi, but nothing hardcore.

I also take back what I said about there being a bit of yaoi in there. There's a great deal of yaoi in there, actually. You know, I've had clinical exams since mid-December and still going, and I'm beginning to speculate that perhaps as some sort of coming of age ritual, Native Americans might have made young adults sit on their asses for something like three consecutive months and just study cardiomyopathy and rheumatic endocarditis. Then, on the third month, the kid would start seeing visions that would take them on a spiritual journey to enlightenment or some shit like that.

Anyway, that's what happened to me, because today as I continued chugging lifelessly along memorizing idiopathic disorder after idiopathic disorder, I came to a profound realization.

Now, I was never one of those "Matt is a dog" fans and I honestly don't know where exactly that started, but it's always irritated me and I've just kind of denied the whole concept.

But today I realized that not only is Matt not a dog, but he's actually a cat.

Always on my mind

All right, guys. I think we all just need to calm down about the golden shower scene in day 1. Next to the "why don't you update" emails, I think the second most common kind of email I get is the kind where you guys express the extent of your dismay about the fact that L peed on Light. Seriously, chill out. I think the artist for this game has a thing for golden showers, as you can also see in White Dirty Angel and also here. It's always L though, for some reason. Anyway, so yes, L peed on Light, and that is okay. By L's standards, anyway, apparently.

Yes, I can only imagine how exasperating it must be for you readers that, not only have we been updating very, very slowly for at least the past half year, but that we haven't added an update in forever.

As of now, we have the game translated through partway into Day After, with one file toward the end of Day 5 still missing.

However, as mentioned on the index page, right now I honestly do not have the time it would take to edit everything and prepare the images and html files for the update. This would take hours upon hours and I'm right in the midst of very rigorous clinical exams. Also as mentioned on the front page, a few weeks ago my computer crashed and it was just absolutely awful. My computer still hasn't completely recovered from this, but I just really didn't have the time to invest in fixing everything properly. I lost my entire D drive, and, luckily, none of my files for this site were on there, but I did lose nearly all my yaoi doujins and yaoi videos, and all my music.

That said, so I know you guys have just waited and waited for the update, and you're probably wondering if I'm ever going to update at all, so the answer is, yes, there will definitely be an update, and I promise you I'll get to working on it as soon as I finish my winter exams.

I set the song on the index page to Always on my Mind by the Pet Shop Boys, because ever since Amo used it for L and Light on an MMV last year, it completely became "L and Light's song" to me, and I find that it's all the more appropriate for this particular game. Also, considering L is supposedly from Winchester, England (just like another great detective, Sherlock Holmes), I always imagined him to have exactly the sort of south English accent that Neil Tennant (singer of Pet Shop Boys) has. I always sort of imagined him singing this song to Light, I guess.

There's something else I'd like to mention. I think that a large part of the reason that no one else has taken on the tanslation of this game is because, sure, we all would love to know what's going on and think it's so hot and all, but nobody wants to invest the effort in searching for translators. Because that's really hard and involves a lot of begging and rejection.

That's the main reason I'm so irritated by the many people who have taken our translation and either made it into "their own fic" or made movies out of it or God knows what else. Long ago I understood that putting stuff up on the web like this makes it inevitable for people to take it and do whatever they want with it, and I realized that trying to tell people not to do that is useless, so I didn't, but let me make it very clear: I am NOT okay with that, and I think that's something people might not be able to understand unless they have gone through this, themselves.

This translation exists because there is no other English translation; it's for the benefit of you readers, so that you can enjoy the story. It's not here so that those of you who don't feel like begging and taking rejection from countless translators can just copy all the work that we did, often butchering the English, and presenting it in some slightly different form elsewhere so you can be told how "awesome" you are for doing that.

The main reason I have been deliberately and explicitly opposed to presenting our translation as an actual game in English (as opposed to hundreds of pages of html) is because I foresaw it would be inevitable that such a game would spread like wildfire throughout the internet, uncredited and unappreciated. But now others are already doing that with our translation, and stuff like his makes me want to stop translating altogether.

At first I didn't express direct opposition to others presenting our images elsewhere because I figured this was inevitable and because I didn't create Bound Prince, and Orange Pekoe didn't create Death Note. But I had seen our translation used in ways that just absolutely astounded me. I didn't spend the immense amount of effort searching and searching for help so that those of you who don't feel like going through the humbling experience of doing that can just sit back and wait for the translation to come out so you can make vidoes or fics out of it or whatever. Honestly, I feel like saying that we can just take the translation down, but by now I'm sure that countless readers have saved the frames to their hard drives and then someone else would just put up all our stuff on their site anyway.

I haven't decided yet what to do in this regard, but to those readers who have made videos and actual games out of our work, I'm really not happy about this, and this is exactly the sort of thing that makes me wonder if our translation should have been public at all.

Domain host problems continue, and at this point I'm entirely determined to switch to a different host when my contract with this one is over. In the meantime, Orange Pekoe seems to have added two more images to their White Dirty Angel section, both of which depict L as uke (not really my thing). No, I don't know why whatever it is he's sucking on is green, and yes, I do think the second image features rather an inaccurate depiction of L's obviously much larger anatomy.

Note: over the past few days I've experienced some problems with my web host which have made it difficult to upload files to this site. I have such mixed feelings about White Angel; on one hand, it's exciting, isn't it, that this new DN yaoi game is coming out with L and Light, and it looks all nice and shiny or what have you; on the other hand, I so do not want to see Light doing to L anything like what L does to Light in Bound Prince. I mean, other than L just being big man seme in my mind (what with having seven years on Light, not to mention a very diverse and intricate life compared with Light's sheltered upbringing in the suburbs), in this game L more than anything was putting the arrogant Light in his place, and who doesn't love seeing that? Light is just so freaking cute when he's subjugated and seething with anger, but doing something like that to the precious, sacred L? That's just all kinds of messed up.

Either way, I'm still not sure when exactly this game will come out and, when it does, how exactly any of us could get a hold of it. I guess we'll see.  In the meantime, for those who didn't know, you can download the art book here from Lucia Arden's list of doujins on this site.

A word about crediting, etc - I can see that some readers have been saving images from this site. In a way, I can understand that - this is, after all, the only English translation (as far as I know) and you may wonder, what if eventually it'll go down, etc etc. Actually, the very reason I try to include plain frames (without text) of the dirty parts is because I know you probably want to save them. So, really, I can't say I blame you.

As I said before, I had no part whatsoever in creating this game and I take no credit in any creative aspect of this game. But the time and effort we all have invested in painstakingly translating, editing, and presenting this unofficial work so that English-speakers can enjoy the story have been  immense. Therefore please bear that in mind, and if you collect and/or present these frames, please credit Orange Pekoe for the game, and please credit this site for the unofficial English translation.
 
 

You know, I think I really liked Day 4 a lot. Not just because it was wonderfully perverse, but also because there was something hot about the intimacy L forced Light into when he had him sit in his lap. There's something to be said about canon - it reminded me of their fight scene in the original story, where L was pondering aloud that, yes, he actually wanted Light to be Kira that his deductions would be correct. Here L says, "To me, you're 100% Kira" - as in canon, the fact that they really are enemies doesn't change the mutual understanding and fundamental intimacy between them. I loved that L was gently kissing Light even as calmly he relayed his suspicions.

While I realize we can be aggravatingly slow sometimes, I think we and probably you readers as well are all a little sad to see this game draw closer to conclusion. We still have Day 5 and Day After, but just a head's up for those who haven't seen the original - the section titled L is Lovely isn't really a story but rather a silly feature where L makes Light dress up in ridiculous outfits. We'll include it too, of course, when we get there, but just to make things clear - the story really ends at the end of Day After.

** Update about White Angel - because a lot of people expressed interest in this Light x L doujin/game and because there's a lot of confusion about whether it is or isn't actually a game (as opposed to merely a picture book), I thought I might mention that when recently I browsed Orange Pekoe's site, I noticed some updates in the White Angel section. As you can see in this screen capture I took of the index there, there are links for CG (computer graphics) and System, implying that this is a game. When I clicked these links, it said coming soon, so I'm guessing perhaps this is a game still in the making. Note, however, that it says in the index "Since 2006, April 14th" - maybe that's when the concept first came out, or the picture book, or something.

I really hate seeing L as uke, but if this is released as a game, we may well translate it.

A word to all those who felt mortified by day 1 and don't know what's coming next: here is your warning. Day 4 is pervy.

I bet most of you can't help feeling kinda sad that in this game Light keeps saying how he really doesn't like all the stuff L is doing to him and that it's disgusting and he isn't turned on and so on. Right? I was thinking that, too. But then I kind of noticed that here and there Light's dissatisfection is manifested as annoyance that supposedly L is doing all this for his own amusement alone and without actual regard for Light's feelings. I think this came across most clearly in the early scene when Light explicitly said, "there's no love in this." When he murmurs that it's all just "wretched petting" and L asks him what he said, Light immediately replies, "oh, uh--I was just thinking about how I wanna go already!"   But he's really just thinking, "I want you to love me" :(

(Okay, that's just my own exaggerated interpretation, but you catch my drift).

To those who have read through day 3, here's a fun fact - the prostate is actually not that far in past the entrance, and prostate exams are done with a gloved finger. So really, L didn't need to screw Light in order to make the vibrator get to his "good spot." In fact, that undoubtedly would push the instrument too deep in, far past the prostate and to the point where he'd wind up in the ER to get it out. Just from my own personal experience rotating through the ER, I think you'd be astonished by the number of patients you see who got things lodged too deep up their rear ends (as well as at the creative array of items they managed somehow to get in there) 

...not that any of us are really complaining about the fact that L screws Light in that scene.  Incidentally, I think you kinda need to tilt your head to the side to properly view said screwing, because I think in this image what's going on is that L is giving it to Light against the side of the tree, which is vertical.

Some of you may know that there's a doujin picture book associated with this game, also called Kinbaku Ouji (Bound Prince). My understanding is that the text in this book does not actually describe any kind of  plot but rather is an interview with the artist or something to that effect. As of yet, I haven't seen this available for download or purchase anywhere, but I did come across a few images that you might want to see. It seems they're at least a little different from the ones in the game.
 
 

Also, it seems Light ultimately gets his revenge on L in White Angel, to those of you who prefer Light as seme (I personally prefer L as seme, but it still seems pretty hot). Now then. I've gotten a number of questions about White Angel, so I'll try to answer them here to the best of my ability. At one point, I asked our (poor, male, straight, perpetually-scarred) Japanese translator Taka to look into White Angel and try to explain to us what it's all about. Being the sweet boy that he is, he did, and what he told us is that it seems White Angel is, in fact, a game much like Bound Prince. It looked like it used to be available for purchase but isn't any longer, and we couldn't find a download link for it anywhere. I recently found updates on the official site, however, that suggest White Angel is a game still in the making. By the looks of it, it's Light x L and just as adult and perverted as Bound Prince. If at any point I manage to find out any more information about it, I'll let you guys know. Alternatively, if any of you readers out there find out anything, by all means do tell me.

The website he found where supposedly it said that White Angel is a game and you can't buy it anymore is here.This site is in Japanese, but I think that what it says there is to click whether you are 18 or not. I think 'yes' is the option on the left because when I clicked that, it took me to the place where you can supposedly order the picture book with the images that appear below (unfortunately, it actually says in English that they don't ship internationally, though). I heard from a friend that supposedly the picture book was made in order to raise money for the game or something, but I don't know anything about that, myself.
 

To those who've come here of morbid curiosity because they believe that we who (and I quote a certain site) "...enjoy watching L rape the fuck out of Light and eat donuts off his hard twelve-inch cock" must (again the quoting) be "sick fucks," please ask yourself if you've never gotten off to anything that would make you at least as much of a "sick fuck." Yeah, this game is dirty, it'd an adult game, and, really, I don't think there's anything here that somehow surpasses in "sickness" what you find in most porn. I dunno, I guess that this notion of "on an absolute scale, the porn I like is hotter than the porn you like" seems kinda silly to me.

To the straight boys who freak out about the notion of women liking yaoi, please try to relax. We like boys, you're boys, I'd imagine that, for straight guys, women who like guys are a good thing. Okay? Okay.
